The names Rreecey and Eggy Dan may be relatively new to the soca scene, but the pair have been working on their individual crafts for over a decade.
With two potential monster singles already released and an upcoming collaboration due to drop later this year, the Trinidad born artistes, both based in the US, are hopeful that their return home for the 2024 Trinidad and Tobago Carnival season will be a defining moment for their careers.
Rreecey’s “Auto Body” and Eggy Dan’s “Frolic” were produced by Lunatix Productions and were both written by renowned songwriter Jason ‘Shaft’ Bishop, whose pen has produced work for soca veterans including Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy and the late Dexter ‘Blaxx’ Stewart.
As the two artistes sat in conversation with Loop News ahead of the coming festival season, they reinforced the significant role having a solid team plays in garnering success in the industry.
“We’ve been doing music before. The quality wasn’t as proper as it is right now,” Eggy Dan, whose real name is Marvin Lewis, shares. “That have a lot to deal with the people who you deal with. And also, spending your money, investing in yourself. That is one of the things that I learned from 2012 to now. Shaft is a good brother.
