A selection of specially curated local films with themes on Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival will be screened at the Scarborough library, AV Room from October 21-25.
Carnival Film Screenings connects with spaces to screen artisan films documenting and promoting Carnival culture at Caribbean festivals globally, a media release said.
The aim is to attract a niche and diasporic audience interested in learning more about the authentic cultural experiences of the region.
The event also promotes local films and filmmakers, creating a platform to showcase their work, inspiring a cerebral approach to Carnival, and encouraging conversations on the preservation and representation of TT cultural identity, the release said.
Carnival Film Screenings held its first-ever event at the Gate Picturehouse, Notting Hill Cinema, on August 23 and 24 as a fringe event to the Notting Hill Carnival. The release said the Tobago edition, held during Tobago’s October carnival, aims to provide an alternative to the fetes and street parades, offering a family-friendly event that is entertaining and educational.
