Int'l Children’s Day: Xhaiden Darius is calypso & soca’s rising star


Seven-year-old Xhaiden Darius is a shining example of what it means to be bold, brave and unrelenting in pursuit of one’s dreams.


Even more, the young musician’s journey to stardom is a testament to the magnificent heights children can accomplish when they are fiercely supported by the adults in their lives and given the freedom to explore their innate gifts.


“It was like a dream come true,” the young musician shares in conversation with Loop News on the occasion of International Children’s Day, as he reflects on his journey as a performer.


Xhaiden officially began gracing calypso stages at five years old, but his passion for the arts and performing was perhaps instilled much earlier, while still in the womb. His mother, calypso queen Tameika Darius, shares that she performed while pregnant with him, and would often carry him in tow to calypso tents once he was born. In fact, it was during one of his mother’s performances that the child prodigy would make known his own stardom, demonstrating his indomitable ability to captivate a crowd. Read More
