Former soca queens Sanell Dempster and Michelle Sylvester have pranced back into the full glare of the mainstream music spotlight with the unexpected collaboration “Up”.
Dempster, the 1999 Road March winner with the mas classic “River”, and Sylvester, the first woman to land a soca monarch title with her 2005 Groovy Monarch winner “Sleeping in Your Bed” dropped the music video for the Terrance “T-One” James-produced track on YouTube last Tuesday.
“Up” is a personal story Dempster says. The former Blue Ventures lead singer famously stepped away from music making at the height of her career in the early 2000s. She says she found the same folks who previously embraced her, now cold and standoffish when she attempted to make a return a music a decade later. Read More
