With her national costume which featured her walking on stilts while representing the country's national bird, the Scarlet Ibis.
"I’ve tried to write this caption so many times and my words fail me. I can’t stop crying out of amazement. A moko jumbie far away from home on the @missuniverse stage. Can you believe that?
Thank you.
Thank you to my designer and friend @carnival.d for believing in me. Your hard work pulled a small idea out of my mind and spun it into gold and for that, I will be forever grateful.
Thank you to my stilt maker and instructor @juniorbisnath who custom made my stilts and worked with me consistently to ensure this idea could come to life safely and with the full respect and reverence for our culture it deserves. Thank you to @juniaregrello who had custom cases made when these same stilts wouldn’t fit in my luggage 2 days before. Leaving them behind wasn’t an option. Downgrading the dream to fit reality isn’t an option.
Thank you my makeup sponsor @sachacosmeticsofficial who has continued to support the making of all my @missuniverse content to showcase the best of our country. To all my financial sponsors who made it possible to be here and gifted me the opportunity to represent my country, thank you. @thebrixhotel @arazzitt @puffnstuff_bakery, @digiceltrinbago , Miguel Mechanical, SCHMIDT Group of Companies, Lake Asphalt of Trinidad and Tobago, and Food Hall.
Thank you to my pageant coach @houseofjacqui @smilecandi friends and family who never doubted me doing something that had never even been attempted. Sometimes “why not”, is a good enough reason.
Lastly, to the people of my Trinidad and Tobago who have opened their hearts to me and poured out only love and support, thank you. I set out on this journey of a lifetime with only the hope of making you proud.
Here in El Salvador tonight, far away from home (and still dressed up like a tall bird), I love my country more than ever and even better, I feel that they love me back. Thank you ❤️
This one for culture!"
