Pumpa gets candid about music career, family & recipe for happiness


Sitting at the peak of his career, Virgin Islands entertainer Dennis Liburd, better known to fans as Pumpa, has no doubt that he’s on the path ordained for him by a higher being.


Looking back on his journey to this point, the Kittitian-born artiste recalls a pivotal moment in time when he had to make the decision to withdraw from college, where he had been on a football scholarship.


“I was travelling too much back and forth and I was one of the top players, coach didn’t like it, he called a meeting and said we can’t allow you to leave for this other game,” the entertainer tells Loop News. “But I had a performance that same day in the Virgin Islands. They put me on a hot stove, its either this or that. And I had to make the decision that have me here today.”


The rest, well, it was history.


“The life that I live today, I never dreamt of this life. Outside of soca, I could’ve never dreamt this life that I’m living today. I just feel like everything that happened leading up to this point, that was already written for my life to happen, even the bad stuff,” Pumpa says. Read More
