Competition returns in 2025 after 3-year break
THE Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts has confirmed that the International Soca Monarch (ISM) competition will return in 2025, after a three-year hiatus. The ministry stated yesterday that Star Global Productions Ltd (SGP), which is part of a joint venture between The Lollabee Group, soca artiste Jerome Precilla and Adrian Chandler who will be responsible for the development and management of an international, premier soca competition for Carnival 2025.
In July, the ministry requested expressions of interest (EOI) from qualified individuals, organisations, or firms to develop, market, promote, and manage the competition. The deadline for submissions was August 23, 2024.
Via a news release yesterday, the Ministry stated that SGP’s role will include creating a financially sustainable model for the marketing, promoting, executing and management of the soca competition. The ministry will provide auxiliary support toward the successful execution of this event in the promotion of our people and culture.
The ministry said that eight EOIs were received and following the receipt of those submissions, the Ministry issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to the interested parties on October 29, 2024, which closed on November 19, 2024. Read More
