The United States, United Kingdom, and Canada are among countries that have issued travel advisories to their citizens after the declaration of the State of Emergency in T&T.
In its advisory dated December 31, 2024, the US Embassy said US citizens in this country should expect an increased police and military presence.
“As a reminder, US government personnel are prohibited from travelling to the following areas: Laventille (including Picadilly Street and Charlotte Street between Oxford Street and Park Street), Beetham, Sea Lots, Cocorite, and the interior of Queen’s Park Savannah and must avoid the following places after dark: beaches, downtown Port-of-Spain, Fort George, Queen’s Park Savannah,” it said.
The US Embassy reminded US citizens to cooperate with local authorities during their SoE-mandated activities, monitor reputable news outlets and official Trinidad and Tobago government updates, and to carry their ID at all times. Read More
