Many hearts were broken recently upon hearing of the hardships being experienced by Vincentian track athlete Shafiqua Maloney who surpassed the 2024 Paris Olympic Games entry standard of 1:59.30 to compete in the women’s 800 metres, but has been working toward this goal under financial strain.
Maloney’s challenges were revealed during an interview with SportsMax where she highlighted financial struggles and Visa troubles, among other issues in her quest to remain a professional athlete and represent SVG.
Maloney, 24, who hails from Richland Park, holds the 800m national record for SVG and represented her country in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Read More
